More Comments From Piers’ Cesspool

Again I ask how a major newspaper blog site can allow such lax moderation standards as that at Piers Akerman‘s. I think alluding to the PM as having a criminal history is worthy of a defamation action while calling her shit and an arsehole is just crude vulgarity. But as Piers and his News Ltd cronies always tell us, the Labor government and Julia Gillard are arroding our freedom of speech.

Surely allowing comments calling the PM a traitor is not good. Nor is calling for the army to revolt. Are people so unhinged or is it just that Piers attracts these looneys.

Interesting

Some comments made at Piers’ and Andrew’s blogs are almost defamatory. Many are just downright stupid and I don’t understand how they can pass moderation.

Brilliant Moderation Piers

Yesterday David Penberthy wrote an article on Murdoch’s The Punch website talking about how there are some people who are quite unhinged when it comes to discussing politics and that he thought it was Tony Abbott‘s fault because he wants power at any cost. It was an interesting read but it ignored one big factor in the unhinging… the Murdoch press. Maybe Penbo didn’t want to bite the hand that feeds him but spend just a minute reading Andrew Bolt‘s latest blog entry and you’d think that we are living under a dictatorship. Then there is Piers Akerman, who describes Prime Minister Gillard as odious. Just one look at the comments he, as a moderator, allows to be published unchallenged is quite an eye opener.

John Jay on Bob Brown

Here’s a recent post from Pier’s favourite reader about former Greens leader Senator Bob Brown. Yes, there is more mention of Dark Forces…

John Jay

A regular contributor to Piers Akerman’s blog is John Jay, whose views are… shall we say… unique.

It’s Un-Australian

Just realised that Clubs Australian removed their pro-pokies ads from last year off Youtube. If you remember these were really lame ads that were deemed so bad that they didn’t even make it to out TV screens. Clubs NSW has now got their own Youtube Channel with only one of the two ads featured. (The one that stereotyped pokies players as bogans is not on the channel)

WTF Bolt

A bizarre post by Andrew Bolt about something to do with some book about
Michelle Obama and Oprah or something. What really caught my attention was that Andrew posted this bizarre quote.

Michelle also told them how great it was to be waited on by a large staff, as if Oprah wouldn’t know about that. And oddly enough, Michelle mentioned that the White House cooks made the best pie in the world. But she didn’t offer Oprah or Gayle any . . .

The whole reason for Andrew posting this snippet is… I don’t know. I guess he doesn’t like the Obamas and Oprah or something. And to think Andrew has called Crikey a gossip website…

That’s Not My Job

This’s a story about four people: Everybody, Somebody, Anybody and Nobody.

There was an important job to be done and Everybody was sure that Somebody would do it. Anybody could have done it but Nobody did it. Somebody got angry about that, because it was Everybody’s job. Everybody thought Anybody could do it but Nobody realised that Everybody wouldn’t do it.

It ended up that Everybody blamed Somebody when Nobody did what Anybody could have done.

This is a story my Dad told me a long time ago and until recently I never understood the frustration that you can experience when your colleagues at work don’t pull their weight and leave everything up to the one person… ie: ME. It’s extremely demotivating!!!
